What Are The Different Types Of Learning Difficulties?

Many kids have trouble learning, writing, reading and performing other tasks or activities at some points. It never means that they are suffering from learning disabilities. A kid with learning difficulty has many common signs and symptoms. These signs may vary from one person to another. According to the research, some major signs of the learning disabilities are writing or reading disorder, poor memory, unable to solve simple mathematical problems, clumsiness, telling time trouble, lack of attention, word pronouncing disorder, listening problem etc. However, Learning Difficulties Assessment helps to reduce all learning difficulties like spelling, reading, writing and mathematics.

Types of Learning Disabilities

According to the research, 10% of kids are suffering from learning disabilities. Learning disabilities are categorised into 4 types. They are Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia and Dysgraphia. These problems can affect kids badly.

1. Dyslexia: Dyslexia is a very common type of learning difficulties. It can make reading & writing difficult. A dyslexic child has trouble pronouncing rhymes and words. Some other problems associated with Dyslexia are speaking disorder, delay to express feelings or thoughts, hearing or reading disorder, difficulty to learn words, foreign language learning disorder, difficulty to learn rhymes or songs, slow reading rate, difficulty to read loud, difficulty to understand question, poor spelling, number memorising disorder etc.

2. Dyspraxia: Dyspraxia generally affects the motor skills of a child. The motor skills always help in coordination and movement. A kid with Dyspraxia has trouble tying shoelaces or holding spoons. He or she can find problems while writing or typing. Other related problems of Dyspraxia are speech difficulties, sensitivity to taste, touch or smell, eye movement difficulties etc.

3. Dyscalculia: Dyscalculia is one kind of learning disability that can reduce the ability to solve mathematical problems. It affects many children. This disability has different forms and the symptoms can vary from one person to another. Kids with Dyscalculia have trouble recognising numbers and solving simple arithmetic problems and memorising multiplication tables. Some other problems related to Dyscalculia are difficult to put numbers on paper, difficulty to memorise logical sequences, unable to memorise time, unable to complete arithmetic solutions.

4. Dysgraphia: Dysgraphia is another common type of learning difficulties. Children with Dysgraphia have many disabilities such as bad handwriting, spelling trouble, difficulty to express thoughts on paper, drawing deficiency, difficulty to understand grammar, trouble expressing ideas, difficulty to write logical sequence, leaving unfinished words and sentences etc.
